COVID Reopening

11 June 2020 (by Ben Kilburn (MrKilburn))

Please read the attached letter regarding the latest update on the re-opening of school. Thank you

Dear Parents and Carers,

Last time I wrote to you we were planning a wider reopening of the school in
accordance with the Governments plans and guidelines.
However as we all know this pandemic is creating a fast moving and ever
changing picture for everyone. The priority is and always has been to ensure
the safety of all our staff and children.

Within the last week the following has occurred:
 The Secretary of State has announced in Parliament that plans to
welcome all children back before the Summer are now scrapped.
 The Director of Public Health in Wigan is urging schools to be
extremely cautious due to the local data and in particular the local R
number.
 As lockdown is being slowly eased we have seen an expected rise in
the number of places required by parents who are returning to work or
those that are classed as vulnerable.

We have therefore decided that we will continue to open for only those
children of key workers and vulnerable children as classified by
government criteria.
We therefore are unable to accommodate any other year groups returning
before the summer holidays.
If your circumstances mean that you are required to return to work and you
require a place at school then please contact me at school as soon as
possible in order for us to assist you. We will do our very best to ensure that
those parents returning to work are supported.
I will be in touch again as we go through the last few weeks of term and in
particular as soon as we hear about the plans for September.
Keep well everybody and please get in touch if you have any queries or
concerns.

Kind regards
Mrs Middlehurst
