"On the day when man told the story of his life to man, history was born." - Alfred de Vigny
The History curriculum at R L Hughes covers a variety of topics and includes both British and world history, with the role of children underpinning everything we teach.
The children in our school are encouraged to draw comparisons and make connections between different historical periods and their own lives. Our topics ensure that the children will have a chronological understanding of British history, from Stone Age to the present day.
Through our teaching of history, we provide opportunities for our children to research, question, explore reliability of sources and arguments and develop a sense of perspective in relation to each era. Where possible, we try to enrich our work with visits and visitors, in order to help bring the past to life.
