"On the day when man told the story of his life to man, history was born." - Alfred de Vigny
The History curriculum at R L Hughes includes a range of historical periods from both British and world history. Our aim is to ensure that all pupils, from early years to the end of key stage two, develop a secure chronological knowledge and experience a broad and balanced curriculum. The curriculum we provide encourages our children to ask questions and think as historians whilst also drawing comparisons between the past and present and how key events may have impacted on their lives today. Local history is threaded through some of our topics, and we teach our children to develop an understanding and appreciation of the changes in our local area over time.
