Religious education

At RL Hughes Primary School, the teaching and learning of Religious Education plays a significant role in the development of our children’s spiritual, moral, social and cultural development. Our teaching of Religious Education aims to develop our children’s tolerance and respect to the views of others, and encourages pupils to reflect on their own beliefs and values. We believe that it is important that all our children develop a good understanding of a variety of religious traditions and cultures to equip them with the knowledge and skills needed to engage in life in modern Britain.

Our curriculum aims to ensure that all pupils are able to do the following:

  • Know about and understand a range of religions and worldviews.
  • Express ideas and insights about the nature, significance and impact of religions and worldviews.
  • Gain and deploy the skills needed to engage respectfully with religions and worldviews.
